East African Media Corporation (EAMC) is an officially registered, independent, media corporation whose primary duty is to provide original and credible information on countries like Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, North Sudan, South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Comoros, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mayotte, Mozambique, Reunion, Seychelles Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. In addition, it deals with linguistic, cultural, and educational projects that are believed to contribute to the development of the inhabitants of the countries mentioned herein. EAMC has three media outlets through which it communicates to the public. These are: The East African Journal News (EAJN), East African Talk Radio, and East African Star Television (EAST). EAJN has already been launched while EATR and EAST have finished the necessary preparation and they are about to start services.
As a part of its multiple linguistic projects, EAMC has released today an Afan Oromo Spell checking software, the preparation of which has been underway since the last six months. This software is solely funded by EAMC and produced by its staff members and supported by few other individuals like Obbo Ibsa Gutama and Dr. Tilahun Gamta. Other than the current spell checker, EAMC has also been working on Afan Oromo Grammar checker, Speech to Text Converter, and Multilingual Translator. Besides, one more similar software is being produced for one other major languages of East Africa under EAMC’s Linguistic projects and will soon be released for public consumption.
